DIY #2 Bendy candles
Hi everyone !!!!
In this week's DIY I will teach you how to make #bendycandles. They're all over social media at the moment. Many home decor brands are also selling them at all prices. But this is something you can do yourself, and easily (so...what else?).
So... let's go !!!
Material
- candles
- a container in which they fit completely
- and water
(And yes, that's all!)
Decorating tips:
- I opted for cream coloured candles because that's what goes best with my bedroom decor, but feel free to make them in any colour you like.I'll probably make them again in any colour, I love them !!!!
- The shapes I made are not the only ones that exist, I'll put other pictures on my social networks for you to get inspired (and yes, no need to say thank you!!!)
Step 1
Boil some water, I put the kettle on 70° and it was perfect! Be careful here, if your water is too cold your candles will break when you want to give them a shape.
If on the contrary it is too hot your candle will be too melted or too malleable.
Step 2
Put this water in your container and dip the candles in it.
Let them splash around for 15 minutes. Be careful not to lift the candles too high out of the water, as they will not be soft enough and will break, in your hands... (and that is not what we want).
Step 3
Candle 1
Take out your first candle and flatten it with a rolling pin. For those of you who don't have a rolling pin at home, NO PANIC, just use a glass, it works just as well!
Once flat, turn the candle so that a twist is formed. Make sure you don't twist it all the way to the bottom because you need to keep the bottom of the candle so that it can fit into a candleholder!
Here is a nice first candle!
Candle 2
With this one I wanted my candle to be able to stand on its own, without the help of anyone and especially not a candlestick! So I just turned it on the base to give it the shape of a half circle.
Easy, isn't it?
Candle 3
For this candle I wanted something rather unconventional. So I shaped it (I'm not sure what to call this shape). But I shaped it to look like this.
And personally I love it!!!!!
Candle 4
For this last candle my original idea was to form a bow. But unfortunately, my basic candle was far too short for me to do this. So I improvised and this is what I came up with!
Nice, what do you think?
I really love these candles I think they go with any decor. Besides, everyone loves candles. Give this to your loved ones and you will see how happy they will be !!!!!
Before I forget, a last minute tip! If you make a mistake in forming your candles you can put them back in hot water and make up for your mistake. You can only do this once or twice though...
If you reproduce this DIY, don't hesitate to share it with me! Use the #margotathomeDIY on social networks and send me your pictures at margotathomeblog@gmail.com, I will be happy to repost them!
